A nebulizer turns liquid medication into a fine mist, allowing it to be inhaled directly into the lungs. This method is especially effective for treating respiratory conditions like asthma, COPD, Covid-19 as it delivers medication quickly and efficiently where it’s needed most. The mist is created using either compressed air or ultrasonic vibrations, and the patient breathes it in through a mask or mouthpiece.
*Patients who had a nebulizer at home during the Covid-19 Pandemic, in most instances, did not need to go into the hospital for breathing/lung treatments.
Budesonide is a corticosteroid commonly used in nebulizer treatments to help reduce inflammation in the lungs. When inhaled through a nebulizer, it goes directly into the airways, making it especially effective for managing respiratory conditions like asthma, bronchitis, or viral infections that affect breathing. Many of my patients have found that using budesonide early—especially during respiratory illness—can help calm inflammation, ease breathing, and prevent symptoms from progressing. I recommend having this on hand as part of your emergency respiratory toolkit.
